Keep your photo and graphic image file sizes small!
There a couple of things related to image size to keep in mind:
- Images should be resized with a graphic image editing program so that the image
is no larger than actually needed in the web page.
- Use JPEG or GIF conversion to shrink the file size. This conserves server disk space
and download time is decreased.
If the image is in a 24-bit color format, you may want to reduce it to an 8-bit color
format - this will make the image appear almost three times faster.
